I've said this before and I'll say it again: Melissa is a master when it comes to tug at my heartstrings. I have crazy expectations when it comes to Melissa's books but she never disappoints me, in every single one I'm always blown away by her character's beautiful and emotional journeys.Embracing Her Heart is a second chance romance set in a small town, it can be read as a standalone but for those who already read a few of Melissa's other books (like Brett or Touched by Love) you'll definitely recognize some of the characters (I loved, loved, loved Janie's moments). Grace is a small town girl only because she was born in one, but her heart always wanted more, she left town to chase her dreams and she's living a fast paced, stressful, successful life in New York City. She's a confident, independent, sassy woman who conquered her big dream: to be a respected screen writer and producer. She returns home for 3 weeks and during that time she'll be teaching a screenplay writing class at a bookstore. She expects to have fun, spend time with her family and have a bit of a break from the crazy divas (actors and actresses) with whom she has to deal with on a daily basis. She definitely wasn't expecting Reed back in town. Reed, her first and only love, her high school sweetheart...
Reed returned to Oak Falls after an unexpected turn of events, he's running his uncle's business, doing exactly what he loves but memories of Grace, their love and how she broke his heart still haunt him and he knows that there's always something missing in his life. Reed is utter perfection, honestly! He's strong, self confident, hot, romantic, with a huge caring heart and a "no bullshit, no games" kind of attitude but he's also damaged due to some of his family issues (I'm trying not to give much away).
I'm so in love with Reed, he's my favorite character in this story, I loved his personality, the way he said what he meant and what he wanted, definitely a remarkable hero and a amazing book boyfriend! I also loved Grace, her strength and how she slowly realized that sometimes dreams change, her style and her passion for writing, the bond with her family, her sisters and their hilarious bonding moments, made Grace an awesome heroine. The chemistry between Grace and Reed is red hot and I absolutely loved how they grown through the years that they've been apart. But Grace and Reed have choices to make and their lives are worlds apart. Will they take their second chance at happiness?
A wonderful, emotional, sweet, passionate love story set in a beautiful small town with amazing characters, loving families and neighbors and I can't wait to read the next one in this series!

Embracing Her Heart The Bradens and Montgomerys Pleasant Hill Oak Falls Book 1 edition by Melissa Foster Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
There wasn’t a whole lot of conflict in this story. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, just an observation. It’s more like Grace and Reed were really meant to be and their hearts knew that, so once they cleared the air the relationship just naturally fell into place.
Now, that’s not to say there is no conflict. There are issues that the couple need to work out, such as dealing with having a long-distance relationship. It’s actually more like Grace has to come to terms with who she is and who she wants to be. She accomplished the things she set out to do when she left her small hometown after high school. Her life is all she wanted it to be…or is it? And Reed has some issues that have to do with his parents that he has to resolve. Can he truly have a happy life without finding out the truth and finding forgiveness in his heart?
Grace’s sisters are a whole lot of fun and I’m anticipating having a blast getting to know them (and her brother) in this part of the Love in Bloom series. There are so many possibilities with all of their different personalities.
As much as I enjoyed this story, it was somehow easy for me to put down. There just wasn’t that extra something that keeps me reading even when I have other things to do. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world, but it didn’t quite grip me like most of the other books in the larger series.
I love romance stories that don’t have a lot of conflict between the couples in the beginning and Embracing her Heart is exactly that. A second chance story of Reed and Grace, high school sweethearts that dated in secrecy because they went to rival high schools. Grace heads back to her hometown to help out her sister when she encounters her only love Reed, a boy whose heart she ripped out when she broke up with him to go to college in New York City. Reed has always held a torch for Grace and now that he’s back in her presence, he won’t give up until she’s his once again. But Grace has a life and a successful career in New York City, while Reed has moved back to Virginia to be with his family. Neither would bend the first time around and they got their hearts broken for it. To be together, one will have to give up their dream. But dreams change, and it’s okay to want something different. Embracing her Heart is a wonderful spring read and introduction to wonderful, vibrant characters. Melissa never disappoints.
