Right up front I am a big C.S Johnson fan, she is one of my favorite YA authors. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Searching: The Starlight Chronicles by C.S. Johnson. The book is absolutely stunning from the first page, and I was hooked by the first line. The story shows that sometimes happiness can come from pain and sorrow. The story is very well written, as author C.S. Johnson expertly weaves the heroines past life with her present, and is a real page turner.

Taking place in both the past and the present, “Searching” is a stunning fantasy novel that follows a young girl named Raiya, she is a fallen star who was sent to Earth to protect it from the seven sinisters, using her powers as a Starlight Warrior. But when she accidentally sends her best friend into a coma, she realizes just how dangerous she could be to her friends, and decides she has to try to stop being friends with them. Meanwhile, her life as a Starlight Warrior isn't easy either, but it becomes worse when a demon takes her former friends hostage. Not only that, but the demon reminds her of someone she knew back when she was a star. Will she manage to defeat him?

I appreciated how the book provided closure, not just for the main character, but for every character, and I really liked the epilogue. I liked that even though Raiya has powers and has to fight evil, she still has many relatable problems, like friendship struggles and bullies. The story is very suspenseful and exciting through and through. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.

I enjoyed this, but it was a little disjointed in flow and a little repetitive. The story line was great!
This was the first that I’ve read from C.S. Johnson and I enjoyed it. The plot was very original and went at a nice pace. I’m definitely going to read the next book in the series.
Loved the whole Starlight Chronicles series. There's novellas in between each of the major stories, which helps flesh out characters even more. I found myself engrossed in all the stories and wanting more as soon as I finished each one.
This book is insightful to Starry Knight's beginning, before the first book in the series. It answers the question of why she is the way she is and her reaction to seeing Ham and recognizing him as her love. I quite enjoyed the book, loved the entire series and fell in love with the characters. Well done, C. S. Johnson.
I loved the entire series of the Starlight Chronicles! This was nice to see it from the other side of the two main characters through out the series. Just as beautifully and emotional racking as the rest of the series. It's not always easy to write from both sides of the story the author captured it beautifully. Definitely read the series books 1-7 first before reading this one if you want to avoid spoilers.
